Building a personal brand is essential for success in the real estate industry. Today, I'm going to provide you with some tips on how to create a STRONG personal brand, both on and off social media. I'm going to help you build a brand that makes an impact, expands your business, and helps you reach your goals.

We often equate personal branding with what we post on social media, but that's not the only factor. I'll go into more detail later, but what I really want to emphasize is that you already have a personal brand, whether you're actively trying to create one or not. Your personal brand is what people think of you based on what they know about you. Fortunately, you have control over this narrative. You can create the story you want people to associate with you, but if you don't, they'll create one for you.

So, let's talk about how to craft your personal brand. Your personal brand should be what you want people to think of when they hear your name. To help you get started, here are some questions to consider:

  • What are your core values and beliefs?

  • Who do you want to influence?

  • What’s your driving factor? What’s your ‘big why’?

  • What are your credentials?

Answering those four questions will help you to fully create your mission statement. Let’s get into how to answer these questions in the proper format to get you started.

When analyzing your personal brand, it is essential to consider your core values and beliefs. Real estate can be a challenging industry, and having a strong foundation is essential for staying resilient. Take some time to reflect on who you are, what is important to you, and how you want to be perceived by others. This process may take a few days or even a week, so be sure to give yourself the time to sit with what you create.

Remember, this is personal, so your list will likely look very different from others. It could be shorter or longer - it should reflect your personality!

Now, let's dive into your brand vision. Your brand vision outlines your aspirations for your career and how you want to make an impact on the real estate industry. Consider how you want to be perceived by others and how you envision yourself. What is your mission?

It is essential to determine who you want to be, who you are serving, what services you will provide, your goal, and when you plan to achieve it. While you don't have to follow a specific format, it is important to have these questions answered.

Next, you must identify your target audience and understand their wants and needs. Who do you want to help? Who do you want to reach? Once you have identified your target audience, you must analyze their desires and aspirations.

For example, you may be targeting real estate agents who are looking for information on brokerages or tips on how to be a better salesperson, or potential clients who are seeking home buying/selling tips or vendor referrals. Make sure to include all of this in your mission statement so that your audience knows what to expect from you and has a clear understanding of who you are and what you do.

Finally, you need to determine your purpose. You may have heard the phrase, "If your why doesn't make you cry, then you need a new one." This is a popular expression in the entrepreneurial world because it is easy to become discouraged when running a new business. That is why it is so important to remember your 'Big Why' - the reason why you got into this industry and the motivation that will keep you going. Take some time to figure out your goals and your 'Big Why' and use it as a driving force to guide you.

Now, list out your passions and interests. This is going to help you build out your community and make you more relatable to your audience. Don't focus too much on your business aspirations, but rather on who you are and what you like. Here's an example of passions and interests:

  • Real Estate

  • Self-improvement

  • Family

  • Helping others succeed

  • Exercising

In addition to your passions and interests, you will need to gather your credentials and skills. People want to know how well you can do your job and if you have any other areas of expertise. This is your chance to showcase your abilities and accomplishments.

Remember, there’s no right or wrong answer to these questions. This is solely for your use only. All of these answers should be very specific to you and who you are, so don’t worry about sharing this or making it perfect. Just make it personal and really think deeply when you consider these questions.

I hope you feel confident in creating your personal brand and that you gain as much influence as possible. Now go create your version of the "perfect" brand/image for your business!
